For your consideration is a new in the bag Ultimate Compensator for inground pools.  It will fit any skimmer fitting and is designed for those who don't wish to lower the water level in the pool.

Simply turn bottle into skimmer until snug. Then make one more turn. There is a cap on the top to use to blow out your lines.
